Jon B. Davis

Jon B. Davis, Chief Meteorologist and member of the risk management team at Chesapeake, is responsible for monitoring weather conditions around the globe and analyzing their inherent relationships to commodity prices.

Before joining Chesapeake in 2003, Davis worked for Citigroup and its predecessor companies for 18 years where his responsibilities included monitoring weather conditions and assessing their impact on the energy, agriculture and other weather-sensitive economic industries.

Davis began his career in New York with E.F. Hutton in 1985 and has held numerous positions in the meteorology departments of Shearson Lehman Hutton, Shearson Lehman, Smith Barney Shearson, Smith Barney, Salomon Smith Barney and Citigroup.

During his 20-year career, Davis has appeared on CNBC, CNN, NBC Nightly News, CBS Evening News and his interviews have been included in the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times.

Davis graduated with a degree in meteorology in 1985 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is considered one of the foremost experts on weather/climate and its impact on energy, agriculture and other sensitive sectors. He has served as Chair of the American Meteorological Society’s Energy Committee since 2006 and also serves on the AMS Board on Enterprise Economic Development.
