Chesapeake Weather Services is wholly owned by Chesapeake Energy Marketing Incorporated and Chesapeake Energy Corporation. The meteorology division was established during the fall of 2003 when Chesapeake management hired the weather group from Citigroup/Smith Barney. At that time, Jon Davis and Mark Russo became an integral part of the risk management team for the energy company. The weather group then continued to consult with a handful of agribusiness, energy and other companies to aid in their weather-related risk management. Chesapeake Weather added Josh Darr as the third meteorologist of the team in the summer of 2007. Late in 2007, Jayson Stock was added to the Chesapeake Weather team as a full-time mapping and data visualization specialist. Currently located in downtown Chicago along the Chicago River, the weather department is a state-of-the-art facility with the latest in climate technology.
